"Bad Man" is the brand new single from Paul Fishman's upcoming 2021 album, Art Official Intelligence (AOI). This is a project that began in May 2020 when the world went into lockdown. After spending the last decade writing mostly instrumental music, AOI is a return to songwriting in a way that is different from anything Paul has done previously.

Paul made the decision to share the single "Bad Man" now in advance of the U.S. election. In his album notes, Paul describes this "Bad Man" as the elephant in the room. This is a man who has been caught time and time again lying, discriminating and making harmful decisions motivated by ego and wealth.

This Bad Man is the president of the United States and one of the most powerful men in the world. It is not sufficient to laugh or look away when he tells blatant and dangerous lies to the public. As a musician who lives through a time where we share common issues and now viruses, Paul felt it was the right time and necessary to say something.

“When you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. ... Grab ‘em by the pussy. You can do anything.” - Donald Trump

Throughout history, art and music have been used as tools to comment, demonstrate and protest against  inequality, racism, homophobia, global warming and oppression, something has to be said. Where necessary, music has the license to name, shame, and mock.

"Bad Man" is more than an example of free speech. This is Paul using music as a tool to express his opinion and stand up against a man who has done and said terrible things.

Are the lyrics offensive? Probably. Will some people be turned off by the political content of the song? Definitely.
